National figure Eddy Offers Condolences For Fallen Peacekeeper in Lebanon

Jakarta.iGlobalNews.id-Ir. H.Eddy Santana Putra, MT, a prominent national political figure and former member of the House of Representatives (DPR RI), has expressed his profound grief and offered prayers following the death of First Pvt. (Praka) Farizal Rhomadhon, an Indonesian peacekeeper killed in Southern Lebanon.

Farizal, a member of the 113/Jaya Sakti Infantry Battalion (Yonif 113/JS) based in Bireuen, Aceh, died on Monday after an artillery strike—allegedly launched by the Israel Defense Forces (IDF)—hit his position near the Indobatt UNP 7-1 post in Adchit Al Qusayr.

“The nation has lost one of its finest sons. Praka Farizal died not only as a soldier but as a guardian of global peace,” Eddy Santana said in a statement on Tuesday. “I offer my deepest condolences to his wife, his young daughter, and the entire TNI family. May they be granted strength in this period of immense sacrifice.”

The 28-year-old soldier was part of the Indonesian Mechanized Battalion Task Force (Konga XXIII-S) under the United Nations Interim Force in Lebanon (UNIFIL). His death occurred amidst escalating cross-border hostilities between Israel and Hezbollah. While UNIFIL has launched a formal investigation, the United Nations confirmed that the projectile exploded near Adchit Al Qusayr, also seriously injuring another Indonesian peacekeeper.

Eddy Santana highlighted Farizal’s impeccable service record, noting that the soldier had previously been awarded the Satyalancana Dharma Nusa and the Satyalancana Kesetiaan VIII Year medals for his loyalty and discipline.

“Farizal’s dedication, from his post in Aceh to the frontlines in Lebanon, represents the highest form of patriotism. The international community and the Indonesian government must ensure a transparent investigation into this incident, as the safety of peacekeepers is non-negotiable under international law,” Eddy added.

The late soldier is survived by his wife, Fafa Nur Azila, and their 1.5-year-old daughter, Shanaya Almahyra Elshanu. The Indonesian Ministry of Foreign Affairs is currently coordinating with UNIFIL for the swift repatriation of Farizal’s remains to his hometown in Kulon Progo, Yogyakarta.
